Real Crete (Greece) Shore Excursion Our tour will start above the entrance to the great harbor of Souda. The extensive ruins of the ancient city of Aptera can be found here. The tour then continues to the Georgioupolis Village. The village is found in a grove of green trees at the mouth of the Almyros River. There, the small port hosts the small fishing boats of the locals. We will visit another very old Village with an interesting history called Gavalochori Village. The population is around 350 but this number swells during the summer months. We will walk around this traditional Cretan Village before our return back to port.

Taste of Athens (Greece) Shore Excursion We will travel to Athens, driving past famous venues such as the Temple of Olympian Zeus and Hadrian's Arch, separating the old and new Roman towns. Other sites we will see include the National Gardens, National Library and the Parliament Building, formerly the Royal Palace. We'll then see the Panathinion Stadium constructed in 1895 for the first modern Olympics of 1896. The highlight of the tour is a visit to the Acropolis, the architectural masterpiece of the Golden Age of Greece. A winding pathway and approximately 150 steps lead to the top of the legendary hill. There, we will also see the crowning glory of Athens, the Parthenon. After our visit, we'll descend the Acropolis and walk to the pedestrian zone, where we will then have some free time for lunch, shopping or independent exploring.

Taste of Sicily: Mt Etna & Taormina (Italy) Shore Excursion We'll depart from the pier on a scenic ride to Europe's largest active volcano. While en route, we'll enjoy the delightful countryside of vineyards and orchards, while passing the villages of Santa Venerina and Zafferana and the fertile fields on the side of the mountain. We will then see the remnants of the last eruptions in October 2002. We will arrive at Silvestri Spent Craters, almost 6,400 feet above sea level where we will be able to walk along the brim of the craters. After visiting the craters, we'll enjoy a refreshment with typical sicilian cakes at a local mountain restaurant. We will also visit a jewelry factory where we will see the artisans at work and watch as they create their individual masterpieces of fine Italian gold and unique jewelry pieces. We'll then proceed to Taormina, a town perched on a terrace overlooking the sea. With a delightful medieval character, it contains lots of interesting shops, and is considered one of the most beautiful spots in Sicily.
